Eye Bank Foundation of the Philippines featured in Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho

The Eye Bank Foundation of the Philippines was featured in Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho’s segment tonight, July 21, 2019.

Dr. Minguita Padilla, president and CEO of the Foundation, explained Glory’s case and the possibility of her regaining eyesight.

Glory is one of the patients of Eye Bank Foundation.

Currently, she is admitted at the Philippine General Hospital courtesy of Eye Bank and the Philippine General Hospital Administration.

Glory suffered from severe alkali burns in both eyes due to acid throwing (probably drain unclogging solution).

Her sclera almost melted and it severely damaged her corneas.

Although there is a possibility that she can see again, severe scarcity of transplantable cornea remains to be the greatest challenge.

To give everyone an inisght, patients, regardless of their economic background, will have to wait for 6 months in securing transplantable corneas.

That is why, the Eye Bank Foundation, true to its commitment, intensively and extensively campaigns for the acceptance of organ donation in the country specifically cornea/eye tissue donation so that others, like Glory, can see again.
