Eye Bank Foundation Forges Partnership with Manila City Government

As part of its continuing commitment in addressing corneal blindness in the country, the Eye Bank Foundation of the Philippines forges partnership with Manila City Government.

In a meeting held earlier this morning, September 2, 2019, the Eye Bank’s representatives discussed the advocacy with Manila Health Department’s Chief for Noncommunicable Diseases (NCD).

The NCD Chief expressed full support to Eye Bank’s advocacy and said that the local government will help the Eye Bank through awareness building and education campaign. Likewise, the NCD Chief endorsed Eye Bank’s letter to the hospitals administered by the local government unit.

The Eye Bank Foundation hopes that through this partnership, the advocacy in cornea and eye donation will be strengthened and thus, address the high number of corneally-blind patients not only in the country’s capital but the neighboring regions as well.

More so, the Eye Bank is one with the City Government’s health programs under the dynamic leadership of its local chief executive, Isko Moreno Domagoso.

It is expected that a Memorandum of Agreement between Eye Bank and Manila City Government shall be signed anytime soon.
