Eye Bank Foundation Conducts Cornea and Eye Donation Awareness Workshop-Forum in Makati Medical Center

MAKATI CITY— True to its commitment in raising corneal donation awareness, the Eye Bank Foundation of the Philippines in partnership with Makati Medical Center conducted a Cornea and Eye Donation Awareness workshop-forum in Makati Medical Center (MMC) today, July 03, 2019.

Different head nurses, section heads and managers of MMC filled the conference room as they attended the activity.

Dra. Marie Antonette Pascual, Corporate Secretary of Eye Bank Foundation, discussed the impact of corneal donation from the doctor’s point of view.

She laid down several important points as to how corneal transplantation affects the life of the family of the donor and the life of the receiver.

After the brief lecture of Dra. Pascual, Eye Bank’s Manager, Ellen S. Lagan, R.N, discussed the historical background of the Eye Bank as well as its basic functions and roles.

She also highlighted the importance of the Hospital Retrieval Program or HRP in corneal donation.

The discussions were then followed by a workshop led by Eye Bank’s procurement transplant coordinators through the Senior Procurement Coordinator, Ms. Reina G. Orfinada, R.N.
